About Rice Children's Campus
Opened in 2008 and operated by the Center for Early Childhood Education, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, the Rice Children’s Campus is Houston’s premier early childhood education facility serving the children of Rice University faculty, staff, students, and joint venture partners, ages birth through five.
Located on the west end of Rice University Campus, the Children’s Campus is committed to providing the best possible educational experiences for the children in its care and offers a rich curriculum grounded in the work of Maria Montessori. The Campus serves as a hub for an array of family programs and is dedicated to supporting families through cooperation, respect and the mutual goal of doing what is best for children in care.
The Montessori Philosophy
Independence. Respect for the child. Growth
Maria Montessori’s years of research revealed that the first six years of a child’s quest for knowledge are characterized not by ordinary curiosity, but by an acute need to learn and to explore.
